Tasting- Omo Ze Bel Merlot

Name: Omo Ze Bel Merlot
Variety: Merlot
Country: Italy
Region: Scicilia
Year: 2011
Price: $6.95

Wine Shop Review: This bright, soft Merlot comes from a hilly vineyard on the Alcesti family estate in beautiful Sicily. It has hints of red cherries and freshly cut hay. Exceptional value.
My Review: This Merlot was very promising when it came to the nose. I got immediate red cherry like that of flavored medicine, black cherry, and hints of farm. It smelled like the hay that you would find in a barn. It had a mild tannin structure, and tasted very earthy and dirty. There was a lack of a strong finish which was highly disappointing. The smell of this wine was far greater than it actually tasted, so I would not try this one again.

I did not taste this wine with food.
